Oh Look! A shiny new blog to rant in ;) This one is in honour (or something) of VOX - which has now died an untimely death at the hands of spammers.

I will quite possible not post very often on here as I am much more suited to microblogging, but every now and then I may feel the urge to write. Usually around November ;)

Avenue Q, Canberra Theatre

YAY!!!

Went to see Avenue Q again tonight. Definitely enjoyed it the second time around. It was interesting to compare tonight with the first time I saw it, as the performance in Melbourne was in the opening week with the Australian cast. Although the first time was really good, it was very much a copy of the American show. Tonight was so much better in that the actors were more comfortable with the characters and the puppets.

Now we just need to convince Canberra Theatre to install cocktail glass holders. :)

I think a list would be appropriate here -

• Twitter - used as a pseudo-RSS feed of various things. A lot of local social media opinion too.
• Facebook - used to spy catch up with people I wanted to forget about once I left that school or workplace
• Livejournal - the underworld of Top Gear and Dr Who fanfic..
  
• The Riot Act - local news and opinion
• ABC News  - Australian news and TV
• Email - Genealogy mailing lists, junk mail and everything else I signed up for once upon a time
• Flickr - photography and pretty pictures

NaBloPoMo : Day 5

Fun Lab Stuff

Day five of NaBloPoMo and we get to the inevitable dull day where you've done nothing out of the ordinary, and the QOTD has let you down (How on earth would I know what Obama has done - nothing for us here in Australia!). So, here I am wondering what to write - which is the whole point of this exercise.

Lately, I've not been working and I'm having a wonderful time being a full time mum and actually having time to study for my uni exams that are coming up. The problem is, the longer that I'm not working, the harder it is to get back into what I want to do.

So the question is, how to I turn an interview into a job offer? I get positive responses from the interviewers, but get cut out by people with more experience than me. Not sure where all these other people were when I was trying to hire people in my previous job. Where do I get experience when no one is hiring and I'm not studying and the local university?

We will get there eventually...

QotD: Kids & Social Networking

How old do you think children should be before they join social networks like Facebook and MySpace?

I think that really depends on the parents. If they are willing (and able) to understand social media and teach children about how to use these sites, then the earlier the better. The principle is no different to 'stranger danger' really. The sooner the internet and social media sites are seen as tools rather than toys and accepted as just another aspect of operating in society, the better off our children will be.

I drove home from a meeting across town in quite a spectacular lightning storm tonight. Apart from the driving in heavy rain, this was rather nice as it had been stinking hot again today - and it's only November!

We also came across a burnt out car in the car park of a local oval where the kid has cricket practice. I just had to go back home and get the camera and take a few snaps. The fire must have been hot as the tree standing over it was scorched.

It's November again and it's time for me to pay some attention to my blog..

I wonder if twitter counts?

We actually got Trick or Treat-ers last night which was kind of cute.

My mother, who has been very anti-Halloween until now, caught herself saying "Happy Halloween" to a 6 year old fairy. She was absolutely mortified and so naturally we won't let her live it down.

I think I will have to organise a proper party next year :)
